Video Shoot Goes OFF!

May 24, 2017 By admin

On May 20th, punk rock band Suspect held an afternoon jam session for skateboarders, and put out the call for skaters to rock the half pipe, and score a chance to have some clips in an upcoming video for the band. That got the attention of several riders including Will Schumatti and Chuck Treece. That night Chuck and his band headlined at The Saint Night Club in Asbury Park, NJ.

Military Soldiers Skate in War

April 6, 2016 By admin

A guy in the Army skates during a break in the Iraq war.

STRESSBUSTER – During war, soldiers can be found skateboarding. Army veterans are using skating as a way to combat stress and it’s never more evident than seen in this photograph where US Army members have built a grind box for soldiers to beat on when not fighting the enemy.

It’s not only in America, it’s happening across the world. And skateboarding has a new lover, the media! So much that is has propelled skateboarding with the most ever television commercials.  Organizations are focusing aligning their mission of promoting skateboarding worldwide with ad campaigns designed to capture the attention of the average person and show how skateboarding is beneficial and largely misinterpreted.

One of them is the SkateRider.org’ s “Will Crook for Food” promotional campaign designed to get skateboarders to show their compassion and help families in need of food AND help our nation’s military soldiers stricken with financial hardship.

It appears skating is not only fun for skaters but an awesome stress reliever, nurturer of human existence and positive activity and the time has come to embellish that and reach the masses with skateboarding’s powerful messages.

This isn’t the first time miltary skaters are int he news. Theirs also a youth moevment with skaters, the sons of active military personnel in places as cold as Alaska.

Major Stok’em 7

September 23, 2015 By Stuart Anderson

Presented by Muirskate, Ghostskate and Shralpers Union, are excited to host Major Stok’em 7!

The Major Stok’em Race Series is one of the longest running and best attended downhill races in the New York City & New Jersey Areas.  Major Stokem has been a starting point for many of today’s top downhill riders.

Many claim that Major Stok’em was in fact “My very first downhill race”.  The hill is fun and exciting for beginners and experienced riders alike.  Top speed on the hills is between 29 – 39 mph depending on the wind.

There are only 80 racing spots and participants can skate the hill prior to the contest. Many great skate products will be up for grabs for the top 3 riders in each class. There will be a raffle of sweet skate products to raise money for the Non-Profit Youth Group STOKED.  Tickets will be 1 for $5 or 5 for $20, and there will be tons of great skate prizes.  Please help us support this terrific action sports youth charity.

We would like to gratefully acknowledge all of our amazing sponsors from across the country who have helped make this event possible., event title Sponsor Muirskate, and supporting sponsors Uncle Funkys, G-Form, Stim Trucks, Loaded, Orangatang, NUN, Landyatchz, Original, Wild Monkey Racing, Bern, Bustin Boards, Community Shop, and Hogwash!

Artwork will be formally introduced of “The Union Genera!” poster art for Major Stok’em 7 designed by Gino Dibianco. This race has always received tremendous support from Shralpers Union – and this year is no different, as noticed by the logo dressing the hat of the “Union General!” who kinda looks like a pirate too, so “Yarrrr”!!!  Please visit www.ginode.com to view more works by Gino Di Bianco.

To Register for this NJ Skate contest, visit our event page for Muirskate.

Be sure to visit the Non-Profit Youth Group STOKED
